The Daughter of My Heart

Love speaks to the daughter of my heart
The first breath she drew was the start

Brown eyes full of smiles
I could look at her for miles

She brought happiness to my days
A sweet child with no ugly ways

She gathered friends like flowers
It was her calming, soothing power

Something no other girls had
She always rose above the sad

I cling to the memory of
The daughter of my heart

When I’m weary and sad and days fall apart

It gives me the strength to move ahead
Through all the sadness and ugly, I dread

When life gets us down, and it always does some days
The image of the daughter of my heart eases those days
