Motherhood

A mother’s fears
may last for years

As her children grow
A mother will know

problems will mount
Too many to count

a broken arm, a scrape, or bruise
A mother never gets to choose

she gives them a hug and a kiss
As she silently makes a wish

a mother does her best each day
she hopes and wishes but
primarily a mother prays
