Faces

My morning place is where I went
I found another’s face had taken it

A strange woman looked me in the eyes
somewhat Familiar, perhaps a disguise

I edge a little closer to get a better look
As I got closer, the woman’s head shook

I wondered why she had come on this day
So I ask her why, but she wouldn’t say

I finally faced her and said, oh, it’s you
I didn’t recognize you, and I wasn’t sure who

The aging process that had taken place
My reflection from the mirror of my face

Aging creeps up on us silently
To be young again, I can see

The face in the mirror will change as in youth
Our God has promised, and that is truth

until then, I have a plan
I won’t look in the mirror again
