She was just a kitten all alone
The mama cat had died and was now gone

She needed loving hands that would nourish
Love her, hold her so she would flourish

A friend brought her to our little girl
She was two years old with a head of bouncy curls

The kitten no bigger than a teacup
It caused her sweet little face to light up

It was love for them both instantly
They were good together it was plain to see

She gave the kitten her name
Claudia, not sure from where that came

They grew up together day by day
Always found a lot of time to play

Claudia sat outside her window on a rock
Always ready and available, reliable as a clock

Little girls turn into women and kittens into old cats
No one can change the final result of that

They say cats have nine lives, but Claudia needed ten
It was a neighbor’s big bulldog that took Claudia in the end

The memories still fresh of Whitney and Claudia back then
A little girl loving her new baby kitten Claudia, way back when
