A goad in Hebrew means literally “the thing that teaches

A goad is a pointed stick, sometimes metal-tipped, used in driving cattle or an animal used in plowing. The stubborn animal that resists the pricks of the goad by kicking against it does not get any relief but only harms itself.

When we stop kicking against sound advice, we get relief, maybe not what we want, but what we need…

Kicking against the Goad

It will never lighten your load

The people who get hurt

End up eating all your dirt

The problem can get solved

Lending relief to all involved

We need to Stop kicking against the goad

Learn the lesson and choose a new road

It’s the hardest thing you can do

But it keeps your casualties few

Everyone learns the same way

Take your punishment, and then

Walk away
