T O U C A N

The toucan is a colorful girl with a vibrant bill
you can keep looking you’ll never get your fill

life in the rainforest is where she loves to hide
takes over abandoned homes that’s where she will reside

she’ll stay most of her life in the treetops
jumping from branch to branch sometimes she’ll hop

the toucan is named for the loud sounds she makes
With smartly designed camouflage to avoid poisonous snakes

She’ll sleep on her beak to conserve heat waves
When she’s hungry fruit is what she craves

she’s not a good flyer but she lives to be pretty old
living up to 25 years of age so I am told

toucans are some of the noisiest birds
especially in the afternoon, they can be heard

they are resident breeders, they do not migrate
It takes too much effort so they just sit and wait

For new little baby toucans to arrive
Moms will now teach them how they can survive

The rainforest will be their permanent home
You’ll see them in trees where they will now roam
