Molly’s Dolly

My mom bought a new dolly for me
but she won’t dance upon my knee

she only sits upon my bed
all day long she stares ahead

I asked my mama for a baby that cries
she just looked at me and sighed

when my mom came home with a real baby
she wouldn’t let me bounce her on my knee

now all the new baby does is cry
and I can never figure out why

So I picked up the dolly that mom gave me
Because I like her better than the new baby
