The Nursing Home

When I look into their faces
There are no traces
Of former times and places

The anguish inside their head
They hold back because they dread

So far away from their home
It makes them feel so alone

Just miles from us they are
But their distance seems so far

They pull back the curtain to peer at us
It doesn’t make sense it’s so unjust

Their saving power
In this dark hour

That soon one day and it is near
When finally comes an end to fear

Their faces will beam bright
When they can invite
Their loved ones in to hug and hold tight
