The Box Fan

There was a Box fan that stayed in our open window
Anytime it could be heard as the humming would flow

Throughout the house, you could feel the breeze
Humming a familiar tune but on no particular key

The sound would emanate throughout the house
at night when we were in bed quiet as a mouse

The sound was soothing and comforting to my ears
When I turn one on today, it takes me back to those years

The box fan was what kept the house cooled down
In many a window today, the box fan can still be found
