Shifting Winds

Genes

The wind shifted today and brightened my mood
Summers out the back door, ushering in a new moon.

I like the first chill of autumn, now snow up ahead
The days seem shorter, sending me to an early bed

I sip my morning cup of coffee, content as can be.
I ponder how those first days of fall quietly came in on me.

It’s that first real chill of winter that brings in the new year

I patiently wait for spring when I knowingly hear

The birds’ happy whistling familiar sounds so clear

Beckoning the winds to move along
The season now brings a new song
