when I was seventeen
Not a girl or a woman,
somewhere in between

The world in front of me
Pathways to travel and a
Wide world to see

Life was exciting
Experiences beckoning
And inviting

I don’t regret the choices I made
As I think back now
Before my memories fade

I smile inside as I remember this day
At seventeen, the age I wish I could
Have always stayed
