September Lies

Sometimes requests are simple yet complex
Answers hidden deep, the heart becomes vexed

Deception is a game of no winners
Yes, you say, we all are sinners

Kindness is born in the heart
Ugliness simmers in the dark

Your Lies can be erased, turned around
If you would Let the truth be found

Lives fall to your wayside
Because the truth you hide

Open your mouth and speak the truth
Don’t leave it hidden under your booth

You leave me standing tall
I bet you thought I would fall

Your tower is not secure
My hand no longer knocks on
Your door

When you are old, and solitary now alone
No one will answer when you dial your phone

Perhaps you’ll think of me and remember
You could have had years of sweet Septembers
