My screen door view let in the air and the light
but mostly it helped keep our house cool at night
Our wood frame screen door was painted mint green
because from the road it could easily be seen
it had a pull handle that you could grasp with real ease
It kept out the flies but let in a cool breeze
we could hear mom say “I’m not gonna tell you any more!”
You better stop slamming that front screen door
The screen door was a permanent fixture to most country homes
Mostly for a breeze but because a lot of critters would roam
The screen doors of today are made of metal and glass
But I’ll take the old wooden screen door we had in the past
Incredible points. Outstanding arguments. Keep up the great effort.

Think we loved that sound
Molly, I can still hear the sound of the door on our home. A scretch then a slam that at times would be followed with a soft tap as it came to rest. I have one on the entrance to my pole barn converted in to garage / work shop. Hmmm. Just to much smile about.
