Porch Talk

On the front porch swing

You can see everything

The old woman that lives just down the lane

She walks by every day using a wooden cane

She always smiles and waves hello

You’ve never spoken but you both know

It’s ok to wave or smile as she passes by

It’s just as good as saying hi

Too many words while you’re just relaxing

Can turn into a problem that’s taxing

Even the Bible says to let your words be few

So the other person doesn’t get tired of you

When you pass by a neighbor on her front porch swing

Just smile and wave and keep doing your own thing

It’s a two-way street you both understand

So just keep smiling and waving your hand
