Mama’s Words

When pain is deeper than a well
You will long for someone to tell

You Bury the pain deep inside
Not trusting anyone to confide

You reason this, too, shall soon pass
Get through the day and hope it goes fast

Your world has changed
Life seems rearranged

Some things you never reclaim
Don’t wallow in pity and blame

My mother’s words ring true
When you grow up, you will know it too

Years flow faster than you expected
The tent is long gone; you had built and erected

You thought it would last forever
Your hopes and dreams, and endeavors

But that thinking is not reality
Your year’s come to an end
Now you finally see

All the things your mother said came true
You just never thought it would be you
