Mamas Letters

I kept my mama’s letters I read them every year
I think about how precious they are and how I hold them dear
the time and place seem long ago
She-wrote of life and things she knows

Everything’s fine she would say
Daddy had some work come his way

Sally and girls moved just down the road
she’ll stop by and do dishes and lighten my load

Marilyn helps me hang out clothes on the line
Other than that things are fine

Guess I don’t have much else to say
wish your girls could come and stay

Just come for a visit when you can
let me know when you get a plan

I’ll close for now but write back soon
Mailed on this 30th day of June
