I will Remember

Not Forgotten

There is such sadness when your loved one dies

You feel like you experience a river of cries

As we slowly start to unravel
There are so many roads we travel

Anger, fear, guilt, and numbness are release
None of these bring us any real peace

As we slowly move on with our life
Still feeling that sharp pain like a knife

That pierced our heart so deep
The scar we will always keep

The pain levels off with time
You find there’s a new hill to climb

The scar will always be there
It keeps your loved one near

Year’s later, in the mirror, you find your smile
It hits you you’ve passed that long mile

It’s those memories of all the years past
Realization your loved one’s safe at last

In God’s loving hands, they reside
Ugly roads you traveled put aside

One day you will see their young face
Happy with no illness, not a trace

Hand in hand, you will walk
Sounds are loud of happy talk

That’s when you know everything is okay
The road of true peace is now displayed
