From A Photograph

Funny how you remember that day
Guess old dreams came out to play

Standing by the corner of the house
Waiting for brothers to come pounce

Summer days begin echoing no more days of school
Time to head to the creek, our countryside pool

Seems so very many long years ago
I guess it is hard to accept, time is never slow

Relationships are formed seemingly unbreakable
Many are long gone, but still, I’m still so very thankful

For days I can remember and cause my mouth to smile
Wish my legs were stable, I would love to run for miles

It was looking at old photos that brought me out this day
I smile as I wipe away the tears, I can’t help feeling this way

The clock of life has wound down, you wind it up again
As someone waltzes out the door, a new dance will begin

How many times did we look at the face of the photographer, our mom

She lined us up beside a car, a tree, or wherever we had just come from

I put the thoughts all away, I had my inside laugh
Filling my brain with happy thoughts “From A Photograph”
