A little boy shows From his drawings, his state of mind
If you look closely at his pictures you just might find
If he’s drawing with pretty colors, he’s happy with himself
This one he’ll be excited for you to put upon your shelf
His drawings communicate in detailed small ways
By the colors he uses and how he makes his lines sway
Through his pictures, he finds a comforting relief
From some troubling inward feelings of grief
Are the drawings he makes happy, or are they sad
He will probably draw with bright red when he’s mad
A child will draw from what he feels in his small world
The array of colors and strokes on the pages will unfurl
So take a few minutes when he presents you with his art
You can be sure it was done in all earnest from his heart
it is his way of telling you how he’s feeling inside
So, keep your mind open, and your hands out wide
When Your child draws you a picture display it with pride
Let him know it’s okay to color from what’s inside
Sweet! I have a lot of drawings from my little but now grown nieces and even nephews and my grandchildren. they are precious to me
