Down a Dusty Mile

Traveling down a dusty mile
Mouth closed but the edges show a smile

She knows what treasures the dusty road holds
Her feet know the way she could travel with a blindfold

The air is crisp as she inhales deep
The scent of honeysuckle her memory will keep

The sound to her right is a familiar bird
The cheerio of the Robin can be heard

The crunching sound of feet on a dusty ground
Keeps a timed beat in a rhythmic sound

Down a dusty road, no need to hurry
She stops for a second as she sees a squirrel scurry

You’ll see many things down a dusty mile
It’s a road she hasn’t traveled in awhile

Time rushes on taking life’s pleasures as it goes
We race to keep pace and get lost in her throes

Today she’ll head down that dusty mile again
She hasn’t been here for a while since she can’t remember when
