Don’t Waste A Day

the air is cool and crisp
Blond hair escaping just a whisp

Galloping along on a purebred horse
On a dirt trail, no particular course

Escaping your usual norm
Riding away to silently mourn

All the bubbling words in the air
Spoken radically, no thought or care

Galloping along toward colorful fields
Wildflowers overflowing with a vibrant yield

Every color the eye can behold
Elated but silent as feelings unfold

A cornflower blue sky sends its hues
I’m happy straight down to my shoes

Surrounded by trees and dusty trails
Squirrels are racing fast. I only see tails

The days without pain now are few
I long for a peaceful day or two

No galloping off through a field anymore
Only memories to take me through yesteryear’s door

Galloping along on a purebred horse

On a dirt trail,
no particular course
