Wintertime

Mother on a cold winters Day

The cold set in silently
overnight
A grab for the covers
I wrap tight

The first foot hits the floor
The second goes down,
a mad dash through the door

warm socks now wrap my cold toes
The cold reaches now to my nose

My remedy is to strap on a mask
Now on to the next warming task

I look at my exposed fingers
The pain from the cold lingers

No worries, I slip into gloves
Now feeling sweet embers of love

Winters cold is officially here
I’m not a fan of this time of year

I will bundle up for now
I will endure it somehow

I will open my arms soon for spring
Throw off the shackles winter brings

I will smile when my flowers start to bloom
The song of Miss Robin eradicates my gloom

But for now, I’ll wrap up tight
While I give Mr. Winter a good fight
