Unspoken
Her soft-spoken words made images in my head
Years of memories too long being left-unsaid
As time passed with no thoughts it could end
Too busy laughing and crying with new and old friends
Savoring those moments for the here and now
Life rolled by, years got away from us somehow
Now shadows of sadness surround me at times
I pick myself up but I’m numb on the inside
It’s the unexpected words you’re facing at the end
Oh I know death is close and it’s never a friend
Still, the beauty of her face and her kindness always showed
Causes me to reflect on her personality that glowed
She whispered the words, Do you think I am kind?
Without hesitation, I said you’re better than fine
Days fly by and we reflect on details
Those unspoken words didn’t cause us to fail
We smiled at each other not allowing any tears
A silent demonstration of our bond through
early years …
Don’t let unspoken words be your regret
Grasp them now and don’t let life forget
