Her soft-spoken words made images in my head
Years of memories too long being left-unsaid
As time passed with no thoughts it could end
Too busy laughing and crying with new and old friends
Savoring those moments for the here and now
Life rolled by, years got away from us somehow
Now shadows of sadness surround me at times
I pick myself up but I’m numb on the inside
