TheWashboard

How many times did we say dear Lord
As our knuckles scraped up and down that board

Hanging over the side of an old washtub
The melodious sound of rub a dub dub

That’s all women had for many a year
Till a smart engineer caused us women to cheer

The new wringer washer took its place
Leaving a sigh of relief on our face

Now the washboard hangs on the wall in full glory
And that’s the end of the washboard story
