Spring Song

What’s in the backyard for you to see
There’s nothing but green grass in front of me
then close your eyes and open your ears
listen closely and envision what you hear
do you hear the squeaky voice of a squirrel
Is he chewing on acorns, giving them a whirl
is that a blue jay on a wire you hear
chirping and singing and filling the air
perhaps it’s a songbird, can you tell by her song
If you Listen a little closer I think they both are wrong
Listen carefully the orchestra is winding down
the crickets and. frogs are ready to take a bow
The backyard is full of life all around
Take a few moments and listen to it sounds
