Play Ball

What’s in a picture look and see what it holds
If you look very closely a story unfolds

A softball game was played that day
Mama grabs her camera snapping without delay

The sky Azul blue, white puffy clouds floating by
They look as if they are not very high

Do I see a budding crush on the ground
Faces glued together Joel, and Cindy we’re found

The five young girls standing right above
Two girls holding bats, Robin holding her glove

We were standing there like we owned the world
No thought or cares, We were softball playing girls

I was wearing plaid pants with a striped shirt
No fashion sense here, it would get a little dirt

The scene in the picture she captured that day
Told a story of many things on display

We had just beaten the Girls from neighboring Jennings
We did it with ease there were no extra Innings

When I see this picture I will always recall
When I was twelve and loved playing softball
