Harpy and baby

Harpy eagles mate for life
The female lays two eggs of white

a large stick nest up high in the tree
and together they raise one bird chicky

After the first chick hatches if you wait and watch
58 days later you’ll see the little chick hatch

In South America up in a kapok tree
Is where you’ll find the nest of the Harpy

Harpy doesn’t like to talk too much to you
When he does he says
(wheeeeeee, wheeeeooooo), croak, whistle, click, and mew.

Harpies are highly territorial and require a lot of space
If you try to harm their chick both parents will race

Mom and dad together will viciously defend their young
No predator will stand a chance against these birds talons

The Harpy eagle may not be your bird of choice
But watching the Harpy Family should cause you to rejoice
