My Hillside

Songbird sitting on a hill
Entertain me if you will

I watched you fly
In the tree nearby

I heard your song
Then you were gone

I wondered where you flew off to
On to another adventure for you

I love just lying here on the dock
Casting out some small flat rocks

Small enough to skip the rock across
Shortenings pond landing in the moss

Staring up at a clear blue sky
Watching clouds as they float by

I’m all alone in the woods by my hill
I come here because my world is still

I find such peace in the countryside
I wish I never had to go inside

I would love to forever reside
Deep In the woods on my hillside
