She had green Irish eyes
That Made the boys sigh
A fearless soul
With courage bold
The last of mothers’ large lot
Affection from her, she sought
Affection would never come
Mama gave it to her sons
The little bird continued to soar
Bright green eyes, always hoping for more
Throughout her whole life
She experienced only strife
The green-eyed bird gave up hope
She no longer dared to cope
It was on a cold January day
Sweet green eyes went away
Little green eyes Mama never blessed
At least the little bird is finally at rest
