I’ll Wait by the Garden Gate

On a lazy summer, breezy day
His garden flowers would rock and sway

A more beautiful scene could not equate
As the view, I had from his garden gate

My Grandad loved talking to the millennial dawners, as they were called then
They would talk for hours about flowers and Bible promises found within

The beauty of light-absorbing butterfly wings
What the dark color on their wings mean

The lantern of the dancing firefly
As he twinkles across the night sky

How the katydids hearing is remarkable to make up for what it cannot see
Or the landing strategy of the honey bees As it spy’s flower and takes a closer look to see

Grandad loved listening to all their spoken words
He knew them to be true in his garden he saw it unfold

A beautiful field of flowers reminds me now of him
when the time comes for God to raises unrighteous men

I’ll be looking for you Grandad, by a garden gate
With a fruit jar full of your favorite flowers, it’s not much longer to wait
