First Snow

First Snow

It started as soft droplets of rain
Its plop, plop sound on my windowpane

I awoke to the sound of the drops as they fell
The sound was soothing, but then I could tell

They became even softer until the droplets dance was over
I snuggled in, rolled over, and pulled up the cover

When I finally got up to wash my sleepy eyes
I looked out the window to a beautiful surprise

Those droplets had turned in to a free-falling snow
Creating A blanket of pure white, what a glow

My surprise as I thought it was only the rain
That morning dancing on my windowpane

Snowlike I hadn’t seen in many years
Was Falling from the sky like a million tears

Covering up everything it touched with pure white
From a raindrop to a snowflake, what a touching sight
