The rustic old tractor still sits out by the fence
The shiny long gone, but still beautiful, I’ll say in its defense
it’s leftover from an age long ago gone by
there’s a newer model out, by comparison, it flies
one of the most important agriculture components in its day
it changed the nature of farm work and paved a better way
With a combustion engine that could rival a car
It provided a superior machine power by far
the heart of the farmer was wrapped up in his tractor back in the day
To own a tractor then, you had to be willing to pay
now it’s just a centerpiece for flowers on display
It’s been sitting there year after year
that’s probably where it’ll stay
