Daddy played the Mandolin

Daddy played the Mandolin

Had us laughing made us grin

When daddy played his Mandolin

Brother played the steel guitar

mama tried to hum the bar

When brother played his steel guitar

Uncle played a mean violin

He’d hold it up right to his chin

We danced and swayed when he’d begin

playing on that violin

Sister played those ivory keys

We would beg her play more please

Fingers dancing with such ease

On those ivory piano keys

Music was our Saturday night

It made us happy it just felt right

It softened up our daily plight

It was daddy’s way to bring delight

When daddy played the Mandolin

Thats the way I remember him
