My Morning Place
My morning place is where I went
I found another’s face had taken it
A strange woman looked me in the eyes
Somewhat familiar, perhaps a disguise
I edged a little closer to get a better look
As I got closer, the woman just shook
I wondered why she had come on this day
So I asked her why, but she wouldn’t say
I finally faced her and said, “Oh, it’s you
I didn’t recognize you, and I wasn’t sure who
The aging process that had taken place
My reflection in the mirror of my face
Aging creeps up on us silently
To be young again, I can see
The face in the mirror will change as in youth
Our God has promised, and that is the truth
Until then, I do have a plan
I won’t look in the mirror again
